They find themselves in the Bureau of Genetic Welfare, where they confront the aftermath of a genetic war that divided the world into 'genetically pure' and 'genetically damaged' individuals. Scientists, obsessed with experiments, create artificial settlements and use people as test subjects. Outraged by the situation, Beatrice and Tobias, who is searching for his identity, become embroiled in a conflict when the Bureau plans to erase the memories of all city residents, prompting Beatrice to take action to prevent the catastrophe.
