Six-year-old Susan Walker lives in New York and doubts the existence of Santa Claus, as her mother revealed the secret to her long ago. Despite this, she continues to make her Christmas wish list, including dreams of a new home and a father. After meeting a department store Santa at Cole's, Susan begins to believe in miracles and that her dreams may come true. The film explores themes of faith and hope within the context of Christmas traditions.
