An estranged family gathers together in New York for an event celebrating the artistic work of their father. Danny, the eldest son of the once-famous sculptor Howard Meyerowitz, returns to New York with his daughter to address family issues. Howard faces challenges, including a recent divorce from his fourth wife. He also has a daughter, Jean, and a successful son, Matthew, who lives in Los Angeles. Soon, Howard prepares for an exhibition of his works at MoMA, with his children assisting him and recalling various stories from their lives.
