The Lisbon family has five teenage daughters. After 13-year-old Cecilia commits suicide, her surviving sisters attract the attention of the town's residents. Neighborhood boys begin to spy on them. Their parents try to protect them from the outside world by limiting communication and forbidding them to leave the house.
