The narrative follows a brother and sister abandoned in the Australian outback by their father, who descends into madness and takes his own life. Armed only with a transistor radio, the children wander through the harsh wilderness. Their plight changes when they encounter a young Aboriginal boy named Galpilil, who teaches them survival skills and aids them in navigating the challenges of the wild.
